Thank you and see you next time

Thank you Pack 910!

To my friends at Pack 910,

It has been a true pleasure growing with you these past seven years. For those of you at the banquet on Sunday night, there was much more I wanted to say though the moment ended up getting the better of me. So I’d like to say it here.

When our family joined scouts Michael wasn’t yet in Kindergarten. So he had to wait a year to join and he was so eager! I was our Lion den leader, and then my wife Irene took over with the Tigers. She didn’t feel she had the capacity and when she asked Stuart Russell to take it on the next year, Stuart unhesitatingly jumped in. He’s been capable, committed, and simply put, a fine leader for our boys these last several years. Thank you, Stuart.

In 2019 I was our Pack Treasurer. Joe Juarez made the mistake of consistently showing up to every meeting and befriending me. Which led me to ask him to take on the Treasurer role when I let that role go to chair our Pack Committee. And he’s been excellent! Joe has chased more nickels than I can count on behalf of the Pack. Joe, your efforts to keep us in good standing these last several years do not go unnoticed! Sebastian Osswald has agreed to take over the book-keeping for Joe so you all will start to see a transition there. Joe and Sebastian, we’re grateful to you both!

As I mentioned on Sunday night, I could thank each of you for showing up, pitching in, and teaching me a lot about how to be a Dad. Cubmaster Dyer often refers to the Cub Rank Books as full of information that include “all the important things you need to talk to your kids about that we would otherwise forget”. I’ve learned as much from that handbook as I have from each of you and the way you all are raising such fine young people. It has again, truly been a pleasure.

Lastly, Mike Reeves joined our Pack last Fall. He showed up at a Committee meeting one afternoon, arriving in Winston just in time, having driven home from Anderson SC that day. He said, “put me to work”. And we did. Mike will take on my role when the new scouting year begins this coming Fall and I could not have a better replacement. Thank you, Mike.

To Cubmaster Dyer and previous Cubmaster Danhauer, you two embody the scout spirit. Thank you both, and see you at Camp Raven Knob!

Yours in Scouting,
Daniel Lobb
