Time to register for Parent-Cub Weekend at Camp Raven Knob

Raven Knob Scout Reservation
October 26–28, 2018
Register by Wednesday, Oct 10

You may know it as Parent-Scout Camporee, but whatever you call it, it’s coming up fast and it’s going to be great! We need you to register by Wednesday, Oct 10, so that we can get our campsite assigned.

Be sure also to complete BSA Health Form Parts A & B and email to Lee Danhauer.

IMG_4817This special weekend is your chance to get to know or to visit your favorite stations at Camp Raven Knob. We eat our food in camp (because Lee Danhauer is a better cook than anybody who staffs the cafeteria) and on Saturday, there are activity stations set up all over Camp Raven Knob, from hiking to archery, from the fishing pond to the rifle range. There will almost certainly be some Jack Tales (folk stories around the campfire) and if someone distracts me long enough, we’ll probably eat s’mores.

Registration Cost

Because Old Hickory Council charges us for each attendee and we buy a lot of food to support this trip, we need to charge $20 for each attendee (scout or parent), except Lions and their parents are $10 each (see note below about Lions at camp).

Dates and Times

We arrive at Raven Knob late on Friday afternoon, and Camporee ends on Sunday morning. Because Raven Knob is close by, some families opt to spend just Friday night, or just Saturday night, or even to come for the day on Saturday.

Lion Scouts and their adult partners are invited for activities during the day on Saturday; the Council is not registering Lion Scouts for overnight camping. We hope Saturday attendees will arrive early enough to enjoy breakfast with us in camp (omelettes!).

No family camping, Council says

The Old Hickory Council asks us to keep this trip to Scouts and their parents. We have some trips later in the year where siblings would be welcome, but the Council restricts family camping at Camp Raven Knob because of space. Talk with Lee if you have any issues.

Need camping equipment?

We’ll send out equipment and packings lists closer to the date of the trip.

If you’re not yet equipped for camping, let Lee Danhauer know on the registration form and we’ll figure out what you need. We can cover almost anything you might need for this first trip, and that will give you a chance to test it out and determine your needs for the future.

Remember, we don’t ever want resources or equipment to stand in the way of one of our Scouts having a great experience with nature, their friends, and their parents. Talk with Matthew or Lee if money is an issue too.
